Spring Ahead Springs Ahead
Daylight Savings Time begins
March 9, 2008 when most of the U.S. will set its clocks ahead one hour.
While some of us may want to hit the snooze button that day, VITA wants
to make sure our computers adapt and are prepared for the shift. To make
sure everyone gets to your meetings at the right time, please take these
steps when you schedule appointments:
- Include the
meeting start time in the subject line of the request.
- Between March
9 and April 6, confirm meeting start times, especially with external
participants.
To make sure you get to the
right meeting at the right time, here are steps you can take for existing
meetings:
- Check your
appointments scheduled between March 9 and April 6, especially recurring
appointments.
- If a meeting is off by
an hour, please notify ask the organizer so they can update the meeting
in the calendar system.
- If you are the meeting
owner for a recurring appointment that occurs between March 9 and April
6, such as a weekly staff meeting, be proactive and check your meeting
time to make sure that it is correct. You can also send out a reminder
about the correct meeting time by doing the following:
For Windows: Open the meeting -> Click on the Reply tab
-> Click on the envelope icon to the bottom left of the page
-> Click the Send button
For Mac: Open the meeting -> Click on the People/Resources
button -> Click on the envelope to the bottom left
of the page -> Click the Send button
- If meetings continue to
appear on your calendar at the wrong time, contact the ITU Support Center,
703-993-8870 or via email at support@gmu.edu.
