Step 2

Activate Your Computer Accounts (including E-mail)

The day after your paperwork has been processed by your department and Human Resources, you can get your PIN (personal identification number). Once you have your PIN, you will be able to activate your accounts. Your PIN will be used to authenticate you to many of the systems and services at George Mason University. Please remember your PIN. You can get started on obtaining your PIN and accounts by going to http://itusupport.gmu.edu/activate_account_instructions.asp.

Encrypting your E-mail-Mason requires all e-mail programs be encrypted.  https://mail.gmu.edu is already encrypted, so if you use this e-mail system you are protected.  If you use another e-mail program, you will have to make sure that encryption is turned on.  Instructions for how to do this are located at http://ssl.gmu.edu
