Faculty Password Tips
Activate
MEMO (Email) Accounts
If you would
like to activate your Email account password,
you can:
- Click here
to activate your password.
or

- Call the ITU Support
Center at (703) 993-8870, and provide your 9-digit GMU ID number and
PIN. The staff will provide you with a new 8-digit random password.
or

- Visit the ITU
Support Center in Innovation Hall, Room 233, and please bring your GMU
ID. A Support Center Analyst will be able to facilitate changing the
password.
Mason
(osf1) Accounts
If you would like to activate
your osf1 account or have forgotten your password, you can:
- Click here
to activate your osf1 password.

- Call the ITU Support
Center at (703) 993-8870 and provide your 9-digit GMU ID number/G# and
PIN number. The staff will provide you with a new 8-digit random password.

- Visit the ITU
Support Center in Innovation Hall, Room 233, and please bring your GMU
ID. A Support Center Analyst will be able to facilitate changing the
password.
If you know your password
and want to change it, you can:
- Use SSH (Secure
Shell) to mason.gmu.edu, log into account;

- Type "passwd"
at the system prompt and hit enter.

- Type your
old password exactly as is (it is case-sensitive).

- Type "p" for
'pick your own'. The new password must be 6-32 characters (letters
and/or numbers)
PIN
(Personal Identification Number)
You will need your PIN
to activate and/or reset your passwords for various accounts. The default
for your 6 digit PIN is your birth month, day, year in the format (mmddyy).
For example, if your birthday is March 1, 1980, your PIN will be (030180).
This PIN will be used for the initial login to the Patriot Web Self Service.
You will be required to change the PIN after the initial login.
If you have
forgotten your 6-digit PIN or your 6-digit
PIN is not working, you can:

If you have already set up your secret question, go to https://patriotweb.gmu.edu
and enter your 9-digit GMU ID number/G#. Click on the option for Forgot
PIN? Answer your secret question, and you will be able to reset
your own PIN.
or
- You may fax your
Patriot
Web PIN Reset Request form.
or
- Visit the ITU Support
Center in Innovation Hall, Room 233, and please bring your GMU ID. The
staff will provide you with a new 6-digit PIN.
If you know
your Patriot Web password but would like to change it, you can:
- Go into Self Service
and click on the Personal Information link to change your PIN. Follow
the instructions.
Mesa
Accounts
If you
need to activate your Mesa password:
- You
will need to visit http://password.gmu.edu
on a working computer and follow the First Time User instructions to
create a MESA password. If you forget your password, you will go to
this web site to reset.
- Call the ITU Support
Center at (703) 993-8870 for assistance.
