CONFIGURING
THE GEORGE MASON DIRECTORY ADDRESS BOOK
The university
e-mail address book is available with Mason Enterprise Messaging
Online (MEMO). You may configure the address book with the following
directions:
- Launch Netscape Navigator.
- Click on Communicator
(it's right below the blue header, next to Help). This will bring
up a menu.
- Click on Address
Book. This will bring up the Address Book window. Click
on File. This will bring up a menu. Click on
New Directory.
- This will bring up
the Directory Server Property window.
- Beside Description,
type: GMU Directory.
- Beside LDAP Server,
type: directory.gmu.edu.
- Beside Search Root,
type o=gmu.edu (not a zero).
- Leave all other settings
as the default.
- Click on the OK button.
This returns you to the Address Book window.
You will now have a
new book called GMU Directory.
- To search the directory,
first highlight the directory.
- Then go to Show Names
Containing window and type in the name of the person you are looking
for.
- Then press Enter.
- The names and e-mail
addresses will appear in the window to far right.
To set MEMO to autosearch
the university addressbook, when composing a message, go to Edit,
Preferences, Addressing, and put a check beside Directory server.
Make sure GMU Directory is displayed in the window beneath the directory
server option.
