Windows XP Directions for Dial-Up

1. From the Start button on the toolbar, select Control Panel. Click on Network Connections (switch to Classic View to see all icons), and choose Create a New Connection.
   
   
2. Once the Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard pops up, click Next. Select the option Connect to Internet. Click Next to proceed.
   
   
3. Select the option labeled Setup My Connection Manually. Click Next to proceed.
   
   
4. For the method of connecting to the Internet, select Connect Using a Dial-up Modem. Click Next to proceed.
   
   
5. Type the Connection Name Desired (e.g., GMU PPP). Click Next to proceed.
   
   In the Internet account connection information, enter the phone number 703-426-2468 (if you are in Northern Virginia) and click on Next to proceed. (Prince William County should use 703-392-7468.)
   
   For the Internet account login information screen, enter your Mason/osf1 account username and password. (To obtain this password, visit the web site <http://mason.gmu.edu> and click on the link for Obtaining Your Mason Cluster Account.) Click Next to proceed.
   
   
6. Place a check in the box asking to Add a Shortcut to this Connection to My Desktop and click Finish.
   
   
   You are now ready to connect to the Internet. From the Start button on the toolbar, select Connect To and click on the GMU PPP menu choice.
