Password
Change
Below are the instructions
for changing your passwords on the most commonly used systems.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please call the ITU Support
Center at (703) 993-8870.
MEMO
(E-mail) Accounts
If you know
your password and want to change it, you can:
- Go to http://mail.gmu.edu
and log into your E-mail account.

- Click the
Options tab.

- Click the
Password box on the left panel. You have three prompts, all of which
must be filled in:

- Enter
your old password:

- Enter
your new password:

- Click
Change Password to confirm new password, or Reset to retain
old password.
(Note) This
will also change your calendar password so, change the off-line
agenda password to match your new e-mail password.
If you forgot
your E-mail account password, you can:

Click here
to reset your password.
(Note) If you use the
Oracle Calendar Client, you will need to remove some files to reset
the"offline agenda" password.
- Please
open the Search window from Start.
- Click for
All Files and Folders.
- Under More
Advanced Options, check: Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files
and Folders, and
Search Subfolders. Put "xtm*" in the All or Part of the
File Name to start the search. Once search completes, please remove
the following files:
- xtmzone
- xtmlocal.dat
- xtmlocal.ndx
- xtmparam.ini
or

- Visit the ITU
Support Center in Innovation Hall, Room 233, and please bring your GMU
ID. A Support Center Analyst will be able to facilitate changing the
password.
Mason
(osf1) Accounts
If you know
your password and want to change it, you can:
- Use SSH (Secure
Shell) to mason.gmu.edu, log into account;

- Type "passwd"
at the system prompt and hit enter.

- Type your
old password exactly as is (it is case-sensitive).

- Type "p" for
'pick your own'. Type your new password. The new password must be
6-32 characters (letters and/or numbers)
If you forgot
your Mason password, you can:
- Click here
to reset your Mason password.

or
- Visit the ITU
Support Center in Innovation Hall, Room 233, and please bring your GMU
ID. A Support Center Analyst will be able to facilitate changing the
password.
Patriot
Web Self Service
If you know
your Patriot Web password but would like to change it, you can:
-
Go
to https://patriotweb.gmu.edu
and log into Self Service and click on the Personal Information link
to change your PIN. Follow the instructions.
If you
forgot your PIN
you can:
-
Go
to https://patriotweb.gmu.edu
and click on "Login". Put in your G# as your user ID and
click on "Forgot PIN". Answer your security question to
reset your PIN.
Already
a MESA user? Click here
to change your password.
If
you forgot your MESA password, you
can:
-
Go
to http://password.gmu.edu on
a working computer and follow the "Expired or Forgotten Password"
instructions to reset your MESA password.
