E-mail Encryption Instructions:
Eudora 7 for Windows
Note: All Eudora users
should upgrade to the most current version of Eudora for your platform
due to sporatic issues we are seeing with older versions.
- Open Eudora.
- From the Tools
menu, click Options.
- From the menu on the left,
click Checking Mail.
Under the Secure Sockets When Receiving, click on the
down arrow and select Required, Alternate Port.
- From the menu on the left,
click Sending Mail.
Please note: If you are accessing your e-mail through an Internet Service
Provider (such as Earthlink, Cox, Verizon, etc.), your provider may
supply their own outbound mail server (e.g., smtp.east.cox.net) and
require that their outbound mail server be used. Please DO NOT change
this setting.
- Select the box to the left
of Allow authentication.
- Under the Secure
Sockets when Sending heading select Required, STARTTLS
from the drop-down menu.
- Click OK.
- Exit and reopen before
you use your e-mail.
- If
you are using Symantec Antivirus 9 or 10 and it is configured for "Internet
E-mail Auto-Protect", It will have to be reconfigured to disable
auto-protect internet e-mail. Click here
for the instructions to reconfigure the antivirus client.
To
find out what version you are using, click on the "Help"
menu, then click on "About Symantec Antivirus" .
