- Open Netscape Mail. If opening
Mail via the browser, go to Window and select Mail & Newsgroups
(for Netscape 7.x).
- Click on the Edit
menu and select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.
- From the menu on the left,
click Server Settings on the left. Place a check mark
to the left of Use secure connection (SSL).
- From the menu on the left,
click Outgoing Server (SMTP).
Please note: If you are accessing your e-mail through an Internet Service
Provider (such as Earthlink, Cox, Verizon, etc.), your provider may
supply their own outbound mail server (e.g., smtp.east.cox.net) and
require that their outbound mail server be used. Please DO NOT change
this setting.
- Select TLS, If available
under the Use secure connection heading.
- Click OK.
- Exit and reopen before you
use your e-mail.
- If
you are using Symantec Antivirus 9 or 10 and it is configured for "Internet
E-mail Auto-Protect", It will have to be reconfigured to disable
auto-protect internet e-mail. Click here
for the instructions to reconfigure the antivirus client.
Click
on the "Help" menu, then click on "About Symantec Antivirus"
to find out what version you are using.
