The University Libraries
will help you learn how to navigate electronic resources for your
research through one-on-one appointments and drop-in instructional
sessions. The library one-on-one program offers personal instruction
by appointment at 703-993-9046. Drop-in sessions are scheduled
throughout each semester with no reservations necessary. Use the

The Mason Media Lab
is a multimedia learning facility that fosters collaborative learning
for students who are part of faculty/staff led projects. The lab
provides its facilities, equipment, software and production staff
as support on a scheduled basis to approved projects at no cost.
The MML is equipped with the latest production software, computers
and equipment needed for video production, sound editing, CD/DVD
production, animation, video production, presentation, large format
printing services are provided at less than industry pricing.

Remote access to George Mason computers, e-mail, and most other
network services is available from any Internet Service Provider.
Alternatively, students and staff can dial in directly to the
ITU’s modem banks at 703-426-2468 (Fairfax area) or 703-392-7468
(Manassas area). These modems support up to 56K analog PPP connections
and can be used by anyone having an active George Mason or MEMO
e-mail account. Please note: Internet access is not available
through the ITU modems, but you will be able to connect to most
servers at Mason, including e-mail <http://mail.gmu.edu>.
You will need your Mason account login ID and password to access
remote dial-in access (to get this account information, go to
<http://mason.gmu.edu>).

Computer Purchases
If you are considering
purchasing a computer, please refer to the current Computer Purchasing

This contains a recommended minimum configuration the ITU has
developed for desktop, laptop, and notebook computers. For the
most current information on hardware and software that can be
purchased at Patriot Computers, visit the web site at: <http://compstore.gmu.edu>.
Some academic colleges
and departments have developed specific computing recommendations
based on their curriculum requirements. Contact your college and
follow their recommendations when making a purchase. If your college
does not recommend a specific computer configuration, the ITU
advises that you purchase the most powerful computer you can reasonably
afford. This will ensure that it continues to meet the minimum
requirements throughout your career at George Mason University.

Distribution lends laptops, LCD projectors, DVD players, and other
equipment to students, faculty, and staff. To learn what equipment
